Toronto FC History

Toronto FC played their first season in 2007 and became a perennial MLS Cup playoff contender after adding Italian soccer star Sebastian Giovinco in 2015. In his first year with the team, Giovinco became the first Toronto FC player to win MLS' Golden Boot, MVP and Newcomer of the Year awards, en route to the team's first-ever playoff berth. The team reached further success the following year by reaching the MLS Cup Final, then won the championship in 2017. That victory, coupled with their winning of the Canadian Championship and Supporters' Shield matches earlier in the year, made Toronto FC the first team in Major League Soccer history to complete the rare feat known as the domestic treble.

Toronto FC have been most dominant in the annual Canadian Championship, in which the club has taken home the Voyageurs Cup eight times, including in 2020. Individual player accolades include Rookie of the Year for midfielder Maurice Edu in 2007 and Most Valuable Player for attacking midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo in 2020.

Toronto FC at BMO Field

Toronto FC is the city's first Major League Soccer team and the first Canadian team in the league. When BMO Field, the team's home stadium, opened in 2007, it was already the largest soccer-specific stadium in Canada. The venue has since expanded to accommodate over 30,000 fans. The Eastern Conference team's most vocal and visible supporters club, the Red Patch Boys, started rallying online back in 2006 before the team had even played its first match.

  • Great Team but Dont buy Standing Seats

by MB on 10/8/24BMO Field - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Had a great time at the game and love the TFC. However, I would not recommend buying the standing seats; unless you are there early and get right at the front, or are very tall, you wont be able to see anything at all. We ended up watching the game on the screen above us.

  • Greta experience but slight improvement seat instructions

by Jamz on 9/3/24BMO Field - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Overall great experience and smooth, love being able to add to my apple wallet! Only nice/super helpful thing to add is maybe indicate which gate entrance would be the closer for my seat to like my ticket! The reason being we entered across where our seats were so we had to walk all the way around, but would have been solved if it told us which entrance was the closest to our seat.

  • Lots of family fun.

  • Expensive

Be ready to pay over $35 for 2 beers and $15 for a hotdog.

  • Great game. Long time to get into the stadium

    by Bullied1983 on 3/13/24BMO Field - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Overall had a great time at the game. TFC won which made the experience fun and exciting. Two of the concerns we had was the amount of time it took to get into the stadium. Really need to find a faster way to do this or open the gates earlier to ensure people can get to their seats before the game starts. We missed a portion of the game. Also my son wanted pizza but it wasn't available in our section. I was wasnt going down to the other levels considering how busy it is when half time happens.

  • Seating zones

by Newt on 7/11/23Rating: 4 out of 5

The atmosphere was great at the stadium, only problem was the seating zones were confusing at first. Would be great if area was written on the steps or beside the Isle seat.

  • Great time Every Game, reminds me of games at MLG

by Glen on 1/28/23Rating: 4 out of 5

Since I became a true fan in 2016 I had never been to a game. After my friend took me to my first game i was sold. What an atmosphere, what passionate fans. It's great to be among fans of all nationalities and to have such fun. I can only compare it to Maple Leaf Gardens before they moved locations and lost the true fans to licensing fee's. The only down side is the lack of toilets and the wind blowing through on cold games. Not a big deal to me but the place would be sold out if the ends were closed in. Can't wait for the season to start and cheer with the fans in section 122! GO TFC GO!

  • Great Event and great match

by JoSweetz on 9/3/22BMO Field - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The only thing I would change is having service in the 200 seats. Too many people up and down during the match. Provide beer and snacks in the stands to keep everyone in their seats.

  • Horrible organization

by Josephp on 9/3/22BMO Field - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

I was so excited to see the captain of Napoli with my dad for his birthday. ( who comes from san Gennaro, Napoli) I also am a very big fan of Lorenzo insigne. We were to attend the Wednesday 31st match against LA, I paid well over 200$ for a pair of center field seats. We left my dads home at 6:00 so we could make it in time. We were very wrong . Police had closed off access to the stadium, because of the cne. Which also was responsible for no parking to be found anywhere. While the game was going on me and dad sat in 3 hours of traffic only to pass the stadium fully and return home. We did not even exit the car. I asked a police officer to help me get to the stadium and even he said he had no clue how and couldn’t help me. This is disgusting to me. How it can be so disorganized. I was so upset and frustrated and even more so for my father. I was trying to return a gift to him that he took me to the Napoli stadium when I was a child. And because of your weak or lack of organizational skills all together. My (our) dream was completely crushed. Thanks for nothing!
