REAL FRIENDS IN CONCERT:
Chicago pop punk collective Real Friends have said they pride themselves on creating music that makes listeners feel less alone. That sentiment is nowhere more apparent apparent than when the quintet plays live on tour. Concertgoers can't help but sing along as frontman Dan Lambton shouts out painfully honest tunes about sadness, heartache, and, ultimately, moving on. From the emotional devastation of "Floorboards" to the angsty satisfaction of "I've Given Up On You", Real Friends' concerts offer a relatable and high-energy concert experience that ticket buyers won't soon forget. Who would have thought heartbreaking music could be so fun?
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Bassist Kyle Fasel and guitarist Dave Knox formed Real Friends in 2010 in The South Side of Chicago. They recruited singer Dan Lambton and guitarist Eric Haines before rounding out the lineup with drummer Brian Blake, whom they found on Craigslist. Their debut EP, 2011's This Is Honesty, introduced their knack for honest, relatable lyrics and featured an emo-tinged pop punk sound in the vein of Jimmy Eat World and The Starting Line. Over the next couple years Real Friends recorded four more EPs including their breakout release, 2013's Put Yourself Back Together. The band's rise continued in 2014 with a tour alongside The Wonder Years, a string of dates on the Vans Warped Tour, and the release of their full-length debut album Maybe This Place Is The Same And We're Just Changing -- a No. 24 hit on the Billboard 200 chart.

As always, I had a great experience at St. Andrew’s Hall seeing one of my favorite bands. No complaints at all, it was a spectacular night. I felt safe, free, and supported, and all the bands sounded amazing.
With Can't Swim and Real Friends, I've never been in such a good crowd. Everyone was safe, friendly and respectful. The bands played amazingly and the staff did their jobs well. Only gripe is the $17 beers. Kind of ridiculous. If this is supposed to be about the bands in particular, just ignore this last part.
The line-up for this tour that Real Friends did was amazing. Can’t Swim (My personal favorite), Carly Cosgrove, and SlowJoy all played such great sets and I’ll continue to seek out their shows in the future.
real friends were amazing live! such a great band and the crowd had so much energy the whole time. all the staff members at irving plaza were also super nice and welcoming which i definitely don’t experience at every concert i go to lol. bouncers, bartenders, and security were all very nice. would def go back for more shows there, and def will be seeing real friends again as soon as i can!
Best way to bring in a 35th birthday I could think of Real Friends absolutely rocked
Great lineup! All the bands were fantastic, my husband and I had a great time! The event staff were also really great!
Real Friends are my favorite band!!! :) I’ve seen them countless times before and each time the energy is refreshed. I was so happy to see them at The Masquerade again, as the first time I ever saw their show was back in 2017 at The Masquerade!! So special! Their music is always there to help make better sense of life. I discovered their music back in college and ever since they are my go-to! Real Friends put on a fun show and our community is so special! Looking forward to seeing Real Friends again! Real Friends forever & ever!!
Was anticipating a re-do since the last time I saw them was at sad summer fest, it was scorching hot outside and we couldn’t enjoy the show since we were dying of heat exhaustion. Was super excited that they circled back to Sac for a headlining tour ! They just released Blue Hour and that entire album felt heart to heart. Cody is an amazing vocalist and really brought the energy to the crowd and even got down on floor level to interact with his fans and leave an incredible experience for anyone who’s got to see them live. Stop by their merch booth and you might get a chance to see Kyle, and the rest of the boys ! I love that they interact with their fans !!! The entire bands performance was one to not forget , I love yall and will be seeing yall again :)
Let’s be honest, I was totally there for Knuckle Puck. BUT Real Friends put on a tremendous show and had my wife smiling and jumpin around. KP rocked, they delivered an ol fashioned, head banging, moshing, punk show. See you next time!
