Chicago is a Broadway musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb with Bob Fosse. The long-running show tells the criminally hilarious story of Roxie Hart, a ruthlessly ambitious housewife, and vaudeville star Velma Kelly — each accused of murder in 1920s Chicago. Did they do it? Of course. But can they get away with their crimes? That’s up to hotshot lawyer Billy Flynn, who uses his razzle-dazzle courtroom antics to sell the jury and the Jazz Age media alike that the two women deserve their freedom… and all that jazz. Featuring show-stopping tunes like “Funny Honey,” “Cell Block Tango,” “Roxie” and “We Both Reached For the Gun,” Chicago originally premiered in 1975, later inspiring the 2002 Oscar-winning film adaptation starring Renée Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere. The musical’s smash revival has played on the Great White Way since 1996, eventually winning six Tony Awards and becoming the longest-running American musical in Broadway history.

The Ambassador Theatre is located at 219 W 49th St, between Broadway and 8th Ave in New York City. There is no designated on-site parking. Chicago regularly attracts stars of stage and screen to step into the starring roles of Roxie Hart, Velma Kelly, Billy Flynn, Matron “Mama” Morton and more. Sebastian Yatra is set to take over as Billy Flynn from November 25 to December 22. Meanwhile, Velma Kelly is currently played by Kimberly Marable, plus Natha Yvette Williams as Mama Morton, and Raymon Bokhour as Amos Hart.

I've seen this show a few times and it's one of my favorite. The music is so catchy that I leave the show singing it every time. If you're looking for a show that screams BROADWAY this is it!
The orchestra played beautifully and perormers sang are performed exquisitely.
We were very disappointed that this was NOT the musical play production we thought we were buying tickets to see. It was a symphony performance with singing by live performers. The quality was good - but we left at intermission, as did a number of others we met in the elevator/garage.
I was not expecting the performance that we received however, the cast was exceptional in every way. The highlight was the gentleman that played the woman’s role (one of five?)! His signing abilities were the topic of the 2+ hour drive home. The three female performers were breathtaking in how they interacted and sang. This was the first concert/play my teenager have ever been to and it will not be our last! Thank you all so much!

Go to NYC alot and LOVE Bdway musicals. So excited to have true Bdway shows so close to home. Please have many more. There is a true need. Many thanks.

This show is staged really well. Choreography is very close to original. The cast was great. See it if you have the chance.
We saw the show at a convention center, a wonderful facility, in a small beach town , off season, in the middle of the week I was not expecting the level of talent and professionalism of the production. I,m so disappointed we are not available for the next two musicals. Quite a few times the level of volume of the orchestra overrode the voices of the performers.
Love the free parking! The actors were intent on giving the audience a great experience, and they did! Thoroughly wonderful evening.
