Seattle Kraken History

The Seattle Kraken played their inaugural season during the NHL's 2021-2022 season as the 32nd franchise. They are the first professional hockey team to play in Seattle since the Seattle Metropolitans, who were the first American hockey team to win the Stanley Cup in 1917.

The Kraken earned their first win in franchise history on October 14, 2021, a 4-3 victory against the Predators in Nashville. The win came in their second game played during the 2021-22 season. The Kraken completed their first-ever season in the NHL with a 27-49-6 record and 60 points. In the 2023 NHL Playoffs, the Kraken eliminated the Colorado Avalanche, winning 2-1 in Game 7 to become the first expansion team to beat the reigning Stanley Cup champs in their playoff debut.

  • Go Kraken

by Maddog on 1/2/25Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

The atmosphere was great. The food options were extensive with many options close by. The in game entertainment was fun to watch and kept us in our seats. Bathrooms were clean, and the ability to get to the game via transit was very helpful

  • A night of misery: Hockey lost amidst the hoopla

by Grommit on 12/17/24Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 1 out of 5

We spent over $1000 to take the kids to a Kraken game. The hockey was great but the whole experience was miserable. Every second the puck was not in play was filled with loud, booming noise and artificial hype. A drunk behind us spent the time shouting obscenities, only to be eclipsed by a kid behind him with the most piercing scream I have ever heard. I would pay to avoid such a bad outing. To think we dipped into the kids' college fund makes it worse. Never again.

  • LOUD

by Hockey Fan on 11/23/24Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 2 out of 5

Need to change up the music like most hockey venues do. I know organ music of the past is not the thing but the loud constant head banging music is not for everyone. The 10 year old and middle age persons we were with felt the same. Just gives some of us a headache and can’t wait to leave

  • Security on handbags

by Sandyc on 11/19/24Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 3 out of 5

Beautiful arena but they gave our group from NY a hard time on the size of our purses as we entered the arena. Lockers were located several blocks away. This was an inconvenience especially since it was our first time to the state and we carried our passports with us in those purses and now would be out of our sight. Changes need to be made

  • Excellent atmosphere for Pro Hockey

by JR on 11/19/24Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

My Daughter and I attended our 2nd game this past weekend, and had fantastic seats. The crowd was enthusiastic and LOUD! But unlike other Seattle sports venues, the crowd was also courteous towards their fellow fans. We look forward to attending another game soon!

  • Lame

by KB on 11/12/24Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 1 out of 5

Doors opened late due to the meeting the team going over in time. Once entered, the "event"it's self was very disappointing. The players acted as if they were forced to eb there. Little to no effort and attitudes were not great. For being a fan based event, I would have expected more effort to be made by the players, production and management. The whole thing felt rushed, it was over quickly. We were left disappointed and hoping for more. Hoping next year they focus more on making this a true fan event and the players learn to show appreciation and not act like they are being forced to participate in something "below"them.

  • So fun and entertaining

by Kraken Buoys on 11/12/24Climate Pledge Arena - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Our family had a great time, ticket prices were super affordable, the players were impressive and funny, and it was great to see how excited it made our kids!
