About

Hell’s Kitchen is a semi-autobiographical jukebox musical based loosely on the music and life of Alicia Keys. With a book by Kristoffer Diaz, the show features some of the 16-time Grammy winner’s biggest hits like “Fallin’,” “If I Ain’t Got You” and “Empire State of Mind,” as well as original songs written specifically for the musical. Hell’s Kitchen tells the story of 17-year-old Ali, who lives in the Manhattan Plaza artist housing complex in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, as she discovers a passion for music, falls in love with a local drummer named Knuck and grapples for independence from her protective mother. Now playing at the Shubert Theatre, Hell’s Kitchen was tied for the most nominated show at the 2024 Tony Awards — taking home two awards for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical and Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical.
