Legendary New York-bred singer-songwriter Billy Joel has toured only sporadically in recent years, but fans have plenty of opportunities to score tickets to see him in concert going forward -- if they're willing to head out to New York's Madison Square Garden. Joel signed an open-ended deal with MSG that will have him playing a concert at the venue once per month for as long as there's demand. And demand has never been a problem for Joel at he historic New York venue; he played his first show there in 1978, and had logged 46 concerts at the arena by 2013.
New York isn't alone in its love for the singer. Joel has long been established as one of the top-grossing touring artists in the U.S., and has sold more than 150 million records over the course his four-decade career. After recording a long string of hits including "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," "Just the Way You Are," "You May Be Right," "Pressure," "Uptown Girl," "We Didn't Start the Fire," and "The River of Dreams," Joel decided that he was done writing pop and rock songs. It's a decision he's stuck with; it's been more than 20 years since he's recorded a new pop or rock album. He's composed new classical material instead, while continuing to play songs from his catalog in concert.
The best New Years ever. Billy Joel sounded amazing. Brought back memories . He is the best piano man. Enjoyed ever minute.
Billy Joel was amazing. The UBS Arena has terrible sound. The music was so loud that it was uncomfortable. I have never been to a louder concert. It was hard to distinguish the instruments bc it sounded so loud. Billy Joel was out performed by his backup band (my opinion). We heard a lot of backup band and led zep- not the soothing piano man. Would not attend UBS again for concert. My ears hurt for 2 days.
Tickets prices on resale are way too high…senior citizens rates should be adhere to !
Billy Joel gave another outstanding performance. He just gives and gives his time, energy , and talent, all night long! Played so many great songs and his band mates are extraordinary. Thank you for an amazing night and a beautiful start to the New Year.
The venue was just great like the show....wow wow wow
I was looking foward to an awesome concert after having seen him 2 times already this year but I could never have imagined I would get moved to the 2nd row!! It was an unbelievable concert and experience. Billy never disappoints and played until 1 am. If you havnt gone to a Billy Joel concert you have to experience it while he is still touring! Thanks Billy for the awesome show and seats. Marie fellow piano player
Billy Joel was amazing as always. This was my 22nd time seeing him and I’d go another 22 more if I could. It’s still rock and roll to me! Having Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening as the opener was also a fantastic addition to what is always a great show.
We got to the arena by car over an hour before the show started and we needed accessible parking. All the handicap spots were taken and we had to park down where the large tram buses were. We took the tram bus to the arena that was fine, but then going back we took one of the accessible trams and they left us off by the handicap parking spots and refused to go down further, so we had a walk all the way down to where the large bus trams were, also for over $200 a ticket the seats were very tight with no legroom. We had to keep getting up to stretch our legs.
Billy Joel never disappoints. A living Legend. Concert was a perfect way to ring in 2025.
Billy Joel has it all- great talent, great musicianship, a still-engaging voice, an immense catalog of fantastic songs, a wonderful band, and a welcoming personality that pulls everyone in to the show- a truly amazing concert-and UBS is a great concert venue
As usual, Billy Joel’s performance was spectacular! He’s humorous and personable with the audience. He did not have a “surprise” guest this time.
Great show, I love the way Billy interacts with the audience, and I feel like it was even extra special because it was New Year’s Eve, and they really played a long set. The band was excellent. Mike DelGuidice is amazing, he sing opera and rock ‘n’ roll, and probably everything in between.
The show was great and venue itself was really nice. However when the show ended, we wanted to take the train as we had tickets, but the departure options were too late. We then opted for taking an Uber. We stood there waiting for about 50min, our driver was confirmed and said he is 10min away. We then contacted our driver and he said they are being held and not being let through. We spoke to the parking attendants, they said they dont know what is going on (but there were only illegal taxi's the ones asking for cash - acting like they are Uber) circling around and around. There was so many people waiting, we ended walking about 10min to meet our driver where they were being held. The taxi driver said they were being held and not being let through. So something weird was going on. We asked the police and they also said they dont know of any road closures, but nobody went to look. The Metlife stadium, usually works with NJ Transit to make sure there are trains waiting after concerts. Was really disappointing.
What can I say? Awesome show. He didn’t play Pressure, Ballad of Billy the Kid, Captain Jack, and a few others, but he played a bunch of great songs. Band that played with him was great. What a great way to spend NYE! Very memorable.
I thought the show was great. I heard last year there were a couple of special guests. This time there weren't any so that was disappointing (the guy that opened the show doesn't count as a special guest). Also, there needs to be a better way of selling merchandise. I waited in line over 20 minutes. Then they started the show 15 minutes early. If I had known it was going to start early, I wouldn't have gotten in line when I did.
Amazing Performance! Great Venue Easy to navigate First time will be back again!
Great New Years show just kept getting better and better and the encore was just perfect.
At 75 he’s not the same showman he once was but still put on an amazing show. The man has so many hits and had the crowd locked in the whole time
Billy brought the house down on NYE! His talent and energy brought the entire stadium on our feet singing and dancing the entire night. He even broke out in a Mick Jager dance during “Start me up”. His band members each were showcased for their specific talents, including a beautiful opera solo. The talent was dynamic. They rang us into new year and came back for an amazing 5 more songs! It was truly the best New Year’s celebration ever! Thank you Billy Joel!
Great performance. So many great songs to choose from. Musicianship is outstanding. Everyone had a great time
