About

Metallica was formed by drummer Lars Ulrich and singer/guitarist James Hetfield in Los Angeles in 1981; since then, their astonishing career milestones include winning eight Grammys and selling over 125 million albums worldwide, including the critically-acclaimed Master of Puppets (1986), often cited as one of the most important metal albums in history. They are also one of the most popular and commercially successful touring acts in history — according to Pollstar, as of 2019 Metallica had sold over 22 million tickets and grossed $1.4 billion in touring since 1982. Metallica’s fifth studio album, Metallica (1991), famously known as The Black Album, has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and features some of the band’s biggest hits: “Nothing Else Matters,” “The Unforgiven” and “Enter Sandman.” On six consecutive genre-defining studio albums (from 1991’s Metallica through 2016’s Hardwired… to Self-Destruct), Metallica has consistently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In 2023, they released their latest album 72 Seasons. Most recently, Metallica has embarked on the massive M72 World Tour, with dates scheduled through 2025.

  • Metallica was Awesome

by tmetalman on 9/17/09U.S. Bank Arena - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

That was the most amazingly awesome concert I have ever been to! Metallica put on a great entertaining show. I loved the lasers, the fireworks, and the coffins were wild. I would go to see them again in a heartbeat.

  • Metallica Is Amazing

    by 311Rocks on 9/17/09US Bank Arena - CincnnatiRating: 5 out of 5

What an unbelievable experience being at the very front of the pit right at the stage. At one point Rob came over and stuck his bass out for me to grab, which I did. Was 15 feet from kirk as he jammed the opening part to One and later TDTNC.. Ended up with a signed JH '09 pick and other picks. Also snagged one of those black Metallica beach balls to! Event staff were cool as well, good place to see a show.

  • Metallica!!!!!!!

    by bizurk2326 on 9/17/09Sommet Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome concert. The only negative thing I have to say is about the openers. Some band and Lamb of God. Lamb of God disappointed me. Once Metallica came on it was electric. Its four days after the concert and I still cant talk.

  • Too much NEW MUSIC 75%.

by awhofan on 9/17/09Sommet Center - NashvilleRating: 2 out of 5

NASHVILLE 2009 . This was my 9th Metallica concert. Open with NEW song than the rest of the night was New Songs 75%. Okay they played Creeping Death and LEMMY from MOTOHEAD came out and played two songs I did not know, not Ace of Spades. Cool fire on stage real loud. Real fans want more old songs.

  • Metallica shook Nashville to the core!

by Nashyboy on 9/17/09Sommet Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Although the preshow wasn't all that great, Metallica rocked! Lamb of God still put on a great show, but the acoustics were off, and one of their guitarists had a replacement. Once Metallica took the stage; however, all hell broke loose. It was unforgettable.

  • Metallica Rocked Nashville, TN!!!!

    by micani13 on 9/17/09Sommet Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

This was my 5th time to see Metallica, and they still ROCK!!! There was absolutely no disappointment. Playlist consisted of new songs on the Death Magnetic album, as well as many classics from their past, to include, Turn the Page by Bob Segar. Highly recommend this concert.

  • Metallica rocked out!

by Crytle on 9/17/09U.S. Bank Arena - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Metallica is a band that's been around almost 30 years and they are still putting on one of the best rock shows I've ever seen. It was an amazing show. Everything from the lighting to the guitar solo to the revolving drums. Even after over 2 hours of performing, they appeared as if they could have kept going! The lights made the show very theatrical- which, inside of US Bank Arena, was so cool to see. My ears were ringing well into the next day! Well worth it. I can't wait til they come back!

  • Metallica was as good as I'd expected

    by Brens311 on 9/17/09U.S. Bank Arena - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

You can tell they are good. Great musicians, great song choices, and a great finish. Excellent live band.

  • Metallica can still rock the house down

by abuckfiddy on 9/17/09U.S. Bank Arena - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Metallica played great! The pyrotecnics were amazingly timed and the bass riffs from Robert really made Some of the older songs humm with wonderful bass plucking. All in all Metallica still has it and they looked very much alive and sounded great. One downside is that they stop selling alcohol when the band comes on stage, I dont know if that is a venue rule or a Metallica thing.

  • Fantastic Show As ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!

by BaraCatera on 9/17/09US Bank Arena - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Metallica many times and they NEVER disappoint with a live show!!! They are amazing and everyone should see them live! The show was fantastic. Lots of crowd interaction with the band. As James promised at the beginning of their set, I left that night with a sore throat and a smile on my face!!! Don't forget about the sore neck and the ringing in the ears too! Can't wait to see them live again!!!!!!!!!!

  • METALLICA = LOUD and HARD and HEAVY!!!!

    by 2fast4you on 9/17/09Sommet Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

My wife bought the tickets for me and my son the day they went on sale. We were not dissapointed after 5 months of waiting! Lasers were unbelieveable to start! Flames were cool all through show! The sound was great loud and clear! Could not hear yourself screaming just roar of the crowd and some heavy metal thunder! It was our first time seeing METALLICA and we would not ever miss the oppurtunity to watch those guys tear the roof off of the sommet center!!! The black metallica beach balls at the end were really cool, WISH I had one!

  • Metallica kicked ass

by Mdbwillfahq on 9/17/09Sommet Center - NashvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Metallica was great. Didn't care for Lamb of God. Loved it when Lemmy from Motorhead came onstage n sang with James. Great show!

  • Metallica was the greatest!!!

by mamaroxs on 9/17/09Sommet Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I bought these tickets for my husband and our two boys ages 10 and 11. They have been to several concerts, but they said this was best of all the best concerts they have ever been to. They enjoyed the entire concert. The other bands that played were also good from what they told me. They just loved Metallica! They cant wait to go again.

  • Best Setlist I have seen from Metallica

by kmetal on 9/17/09U.S. Bank Arena - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Great show. The band looked energetic and happy to be playing live. The new songs sounded great and blended well with old songs. They played Unforgiven live and it was amazing. I would recommend seeing Metallica to everyone who wants to rock out.

  • Metallica ROCKS!!!

    by Scorpgirl1972 on 9/17/09U.S. Bank Arena - CincinnatiRating: 3 out of 5

Metallica was awesome as usual, but the sound at this particular arena was horrible. I couldn't make out half of what James was saying to the crowd. Kind of a disappointment.
