Here she is, world! Gypsy is a 2024 Broadway revival of the classic 1959 musical by Stephen Sondheim, Jule Stein and Arthur Laurents. The show is loosely based on the memoirs of the famous striptease artist Gypsy Rose Lee, and looks back on her mother Rose’s unrelenting drive to turn Gypsy and her younger sister June into stars on the 1920s vaudeville circuit. Featuring famous show tunes like “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” “Rose’s Turn,” “Let Me Entertain You” and “You Gotta Get a Gimmick,” the much-heralded revival will be headlined by six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald as Rose, with direction by George C. Wolfe and choreography by Camille A. Brown. Previews began November 21 at the Majestic Theatre, with opening night slated for December 19.
