Atlanta Falcons Team History

The Atlanta Falcons joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1966. Since their start, they’ve won six division championships and have appeared in two Super Bowl games (1999 and 2017). The Falcons began play in the former Georgia Dome in 1992, where they defeated all other 31 NFL teams at least once during their time there. In 1998, they had their best season to date, finishing 14-2 and winning the NFC West.

The Falcons played their final match at the Georgia Dome on January 22, 2017, beating the Green Bay Packers 44-21 to win the division title. Upon completion of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Falcons opened their new home with a preseason game in August 2017.

Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Located in Atlanta, the 71,000-capacity Mercedes-Benz Stadium (MBS) opened in 2017. Built as a replacement for the Georgia Dome, Mercedes-Benz Stadium was constructed completely with the fan experience in mind. Wide concourses give fans the ability to freely move around the stadium on any level.

MBS is one of the most sustainable and environmentally-conscious sports venues in the world. After achieving LEED Platinum certification upon completion in 2017, MBS focused on implementing operations to create a zero waste environment. As part of its sustainability initiatives, MBS developed and implemented a variety of green practices, such as water conservation, energy conservation, recycling and compost, alternative transportation, an urban garden, and agriculture programs.

MBS became the first sports and entertainment venue to achieve LEED Zero certification in any category which can only be achieved if a venue has achieved LEED Platinum, and the first Stadium worldwide to achieve official TRUE Platinum certification for zero waste. The diverted materials are reduced, reused, recycled, composted and/or recovered to curb the Stadium's overall environmental footprint.

  • Best stadium in the league

by Weeg on 12/28/24Mercedes-Benz Stadium - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Been to about a dozen NFL stadiums, this is my favorite thus far. Excellent site Jones, loved the standing room viewing locations around bars, handicapped seats spread throughout, not squeezed in to meet a quota. Wide open walk ways, plentiful and excellent food and drink option.

  • Absolutely Marvelous

by Violet C Sanford on 12/26/24Mercedes-Benz Stadium - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Love it! I was so happy with my seats and the thrill of the game made the event all that much better

  • Bad seats

by Missy on 12/25/24Mercedes-Benz Stadium - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

This was a bad experience. I didn’t realize we were paying to sit in the nosebleed. I brought my 5 year old to his first game and we unfortunately had to leave before the 1st quarter was out. We were in row 26 and he was absolutely terrified. So I basically wasted money and had to listen to him cry the ride home.

I wish I would have known we were in the nosebleed. I paid $115 a piece for seats at the way top with a 5 year old. He was ready to go the moment we sat down. We left at the end of the 1st quarter. It wasn’t a good experience for his first game! I wasted money and had a disappointed kid! I wouldn’t advice anyone to purchase to tickets with little kids that past row 15.

For the price we paid the seats could have been better. We were not able to see the screen which is needed for replays.

  • Best Fan Experience

by Larry on 10/6/24Mercedes-Benz Stadium - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I’m a NY Giant fan that went to Atlanta to see the Red Bulls play and decided to catch the Falcon game. The Giants should take lessons from these guys. The best Fan experience I’ve ever had watch a football game. Everyone super friendly, respectful and helpful. Prices for food ( which was great ) were ridiculously reasonably.
