Columbus Blue Jackets History
The Columbus Blue Jackets — whose name pays tribute to Ohio's substantial contributions to the Union army during the Civil War — joined the NHL as an expansion franchise in 2000.
The Blue Jackets played their first 12 seasons as a member of the Western Conference, making their first foray into the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2008-2009 led by All-Star winger Rick Nash and Rookie of the Year goaltender Steve Mason.
NHL realignment saw the team move to the Eastern Conference in 2013-2014, and the Blue Jackets have since collected six winning seasons and qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs five times. Columbus was one of just three teams to earn playoff berths in four consecutive seasons from 2016-2020, joining the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals.
In 2018-2019, the eighth-seeded Blue Jackets faced off against the Presidents' Trophy-winning and top-seeded Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the playoffs. The Blue Jackets shocked the heavily-favored Lightning as they became the first team in NHL history to earn a four-game sweep in the first round of the playoffs against a team with the league's best regular-season record.

The experience of the game is fun and very entertaining
Blue Jacket game had a party atmosphere. Long intermissions allow for plenty of time to get food/ drinks and socialize. Sound system was muffled and wasn’t able to make out anything the game announcer or officials said (at least in the upper deck).
Got to see the blue jackets play a great game. Ended in a tie and went to overtime and then a shootout. Jackets won!!! The fireworks were not worth sticking around for this time. I have seen them before and they were great fun, but definitely not worth this night
I always love the blue jackets games. Win or loss it’s a great time. This past New Year’s Eve game was top of the line. Excellent game play! If I didn’t have a racket of a headache from cheering all night long we would have stuck around for fireworks. My only regret.
We purchased a family value pack and it was awesome! We had a simple hotdog, popcorn, and drink included with our ticket, a chiller skate pass and were able to go on the ice after the game and shoot a slapshot! In addition, if you have kids coming for their first game, they can get a first game puck which my kids thought was awesome. Overall, a super memorable experience for the whole family and the Blue Jackets won! All the staff we encountered were extremely friendly but definitely want to shout out the security team. My husband lost his phone and this team showed empathy and also did everything to find the phone. Once they did, the pick up was super easy as well. Thanks for a great experience!
For the most part everything was great, until a young man who overindulge was heckling my daughter. It was so bad she was crying and wanted to leave the game.
The hockey game was enjoyable. The facility and staff were excellent. I found the temperature in the arena colder than usual. Parking was busier than usual which made leaving a bit longer. Fans and game atmosphere were great.
Had a wonderful time was my first NHL game and loved every minute of it. Got a picture with the mascot and he was very friendly. awesome venue and very clean bathrooms great job all around will see you next year when we come back to visit Ohio.
first time, purchased a game ticket and prepaid parking for Blue Jackets game. I was never able to find my parking pass barcode on the app/my wallet. The attendant looked upon my arrival, showed her a screenshot that I in fact paid for parking, and she was unable to locate my parking pass on my phone. She took care of it though. Maybe I did something wrong along the way, both were purchased at the same time, the same way.
A Blue Jackets game is hands down the best event you can attend! Great vibe, outstanding staff, and the arena is top notch!
