About

Los Angeles Clippers History

The Clippers joined the NBA in 1970 as the Buffalo Braves, an expansion team located in Buffalo, N.Y. The franchise selected future star forward Bob McAdoo in 1972 with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft. He was named NBA MVP in the 1974–75 season, and remains the only player in the history of the Clippers franchise to win that honor.

The franchise, led by new owner Irv Levin, moved to San Diego in 1978 and was renamed as the Clippers. The franchise's stay in San Diego didn't last long. Levin sold the team to Donald Sterling in 1981, and he moved the franchise 120 miles north to Los Angeles.

The Clippers began their best era of success in 2010, when they drafted Blake Griffin with the No. 1 overall pick. One season later they acquired Chris Paul in a trade with the New Orleans Hornets, and "Lob City" was born. They advanced to the second round of the playoffs that same season, recording their second playoff series win in 36 years. The Clippers followed that by setting a new franchise record with 56 wins in the 2012–13 season, which began a streak of five consecutive seasons with 50 or more wins and a playoff berth.

During the 2022–23 season, the Clippers, led by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, again returned to the playoffs. They fell to the Suns in the first round.

  • Amazing atmosphere!

The new stadium is awesome. The visitors don’t waste time in waiting lines. Every thing is precious and quick. The whole team does a really good job!

  • The Good and Bad of the Intuit Dome

by Stretch on 12/11/24Intuit Dome - InglewoodRating: 3 out of 5

The good part is that the Dome is amazing both inside and out, the HALO has all the stats during the game for both teams which makes it good if you're a true fan and of course one can watch the game on the HALO while looking at stats. The challenge is that unlike other arenas or stadiums, it appears everyone must have a cell phone to download the app and must have their own ticket on the app, so if one person buys tickets for others those people must download the app to get the ticket and get in. The interesting thing is Face ID, which allows those who use it on the app to get in a much shorter line, or it least it was on the day we went. If one wants food there appears to be only two different companies that have food and all food appears to be pre-made and one must have their credit card on the app as there is no other way to pay, and one can't ask for something different such as the burger with no cheese if they have cheese on the premade burgers. The outside of the Dome area is very nice with basketball courts and places to walk and parking for us was not a problem although expensive.

  • Intuit Dome is what Sofi wishes it was

Pro tip: complete the Entire Identipass process. It was a mind blowing experience because of that

  • If you’re an out of market fan, go to crypto

by Go Dubs!! on 11/21/24Intuit Dome - InglewoodRating: 1 out of 5

My team was in town to face the Clippers. Very excited to see my team and to see the new intuit dome. However, the intuit experience was horrific. It took us nearly an hour from when our Uber dropped us off until we got to our seats. Lines everywhere because the new clippers app doesn’t work. Once inside, the sight lines were great and the bathrooms are as plentiful as advertised. The food options are incredibly limited. Definitely eat elsewhere instead of in the arena (unless you like your food kind of warm). And the next day I had to review charges as the grab and go concessions charged me for items I didn’t purchase.

  • Good but not great

by Tony on 11/11/24Intuit Dome - InglewoodRating: 3 out of 5

The level of your private info you need to hand over to walk in the door is troubling. Everything is over priced, as most American sports stadiums are. But the fact you can't enter without the app, facial recognition, cc details doesn't sit right with me

  • Amazing place

So amazed with the whole set up in Intuit Dome. Will surely come back again.

  • Nice Arena Bad and Very Expensive Experience

    by Gary C on 11/3/24Intuit Dome - InglewoodRating: 1 out of 5

While the arena is new and has many bells and whistles, the overall experience was not good. To start parking at the arena was, get this, $70 which is outrageous. Then getting in, no bar codes were accepted and you needed some recognition system which was to say the least confusing. Then the food choices were non existent, no real food court, the choices were very limited and the quality was poor. Also when paying no receipts and that was bizarre and the good news is it was relatively expensive. Will not be going back and feel that it was a poor experience. Nice arena tho!
