Milwaukee Bucks History

On January 22, 1968, the National Basketball Association awarded a Milwaukee-based franchise to Milwaukee Professional Sports and Services, Inc., a group of investors headed by Wesley D. Pavalon and Marvin L. Fishman. The Bucks struggled through their first season, but immediately turned that around following the selection of Lew Alcindor (who would later go by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) at No. 1 overall in the 1969 NBA Draft. In his second season, Alcindor won the NBA MVP and led the Bucks as they steamrolled through the playoffs. They swept the Baltimore Bullets in the NBA Finals, giving the Bucks a championship in just their third year of existence.

The Bucks were a powerhouse team for the first half of the 1970s, led by Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson. After the departure of Abdul-Jabbar to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1975, the team was in a transition period until head coach Don Nelson came aboard in November 1976. The 1980s saw much success for the Bucks team with the additions of Sidney Moncrief in 1979 and Bob Lanier in 1980. Nelson won NBA Coach of the Year twice during his 11-year tenure with the Bucks while leading the team to seven division titles.

The Bucks struggled throughout the 1990s and 2000s, but the 2010s brought the Bucks to its modern era and coined the start of the iconic "Fear the Deer'' phrase after a playoff win over the Chicago Bulls in 2010. In the 2013 NBA Draft, the Bucks selected Giannis Antetokounmpo as the 15th overall pick and acquired Khris Middleton from the Detroit Pistons. April 16, 2014 marked the beginning of a new era for the NBA franchise, as ownership was transferred to a new group headed by entrepreneurs Marc Lasry and Wes Edens.

In the 2020–21 season, led by Antetokounmpo, the Bucks capped off a historic year by defeating the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals in 6 games to become NBA Champions for the second time in franchise history.

  • Confusing

by AmberW on 3/22/23Fiserv Forum - MilwaukeeRating: 3 out of 5

When we first arrived, a security guard gave us a two minute lecture/rant on how “we were making things complicated”. We simply were taking our phones and keys out of bags, like we were asked. The rest of the staff we encountered were mostly pleasant! My biggest issue was finding our seats. After showing three different people working there our tickets, they took us to the wrong section (three times). We weren’t able to get to our seats until 20 minutes into the game. Eventually another patron was able to point us in the right direction to our actual seats.

  • Good timed

    by Jane R on 3/5/23Fiserv Forum - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

Attended my first Bucks game. Fiserv Forum is a wonderful venue. Sat in the upper level and the seats were nice for the price. (Next time I will get tickets in the lower level, better chance of snagging a t-shirt or whatever they are tossing out.) Love the entertainment on the court during timeouts, so much to keep a person entertained. Will skip the margarita next time. $20 was a bit much for an alcoholic slushy😄 I definitely enjoyed the venue, game, and atmosphere.

  • Awesome first NBA game

by LoriJean on 3/1/23Fiserv Forum - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

Drove in from Green Bay to experience our first NBA game! It was awesome. The entertainment during down times during the game was just fabulous and the win at the end made the day!

  • Technology 'share' failure

by ridetoday on 1/9/23Fiserv Forum - MilwaukeeRating: 1 out of 5

I purchased Bucks tickets for family members Christmas gift. I was unable to share or forward these electronic tickets. It was messy & the work around was to share my Ticketmaster credentials in order for recipients to obtain. This is a major technology failure on Ticketmaster's behalf. Please fix this issue!

It was great to be at Fiserv Forum. It was the first time. But very disappointed that so many starters were not playing. They get payed big money to play a game and for so many not to be playing in one night was a huge bummer. Not sure if I would pay to come to another game because of that.

  • Even without the Starters

by Bill on 1/4/23Fiserv Forum - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

Even though the Bucks did not play Giannis, Jrue, or Kris it was an awesome competition. I enjoy seeing some of the other guys like Beauchamp, Carter, Green, Engles, and more. They just didn't make the baskets. It is how the ball bounces.

  • Best Christmas Present Ever

by Grandma on 1/2/23Fiserv Forum - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

Took my grandchildren (ages 4, 7, 10 & 11) as part of their Christmas present & they absolutely loved it. Our seats were high up, but our view was amazing & we were still part of all the give aways (T-shirts, balls, etc…). They entertained us during breaks & time outs & the bucks win was the best. My grandchildren said over & over again “Thanks so much for taking me.” It is an awesome memory that will far outlast any toys! I would highly recommend attending a game.

  • Uncomfortable experience

    by Dagr8trucker on 11/28/22Fiserv Forum - MilwaukeeRating: 2 out of 5

Seat rolls are way to close together.... sodalitey no leg room, we have to sit cramped up especially for taller (6ft tall) people. Then when others want to leave row you have to stand to allow them through and that is uncomfortable as no room and they are rubbing on you as they pass by.

  • Frustrated

by Kenojohn on 11/28/22Fiserv Forum - MilwaukeeRating: 2 out of 5

Started when I was stopped at security because of the small flashlight on my key chain which I have for my personal safety. Where is it published that this is not allowed. What happened to the wonderful dance team? This woke nonsense is ruining the fun. Not sure I’ll be back.
