Brooklyn Nets History

Founded in 1967 as a member of the American Basketball Association, the Brooklyn Nets franchise began as the New Jersey Americans before relocating to Long Island for its second season and becoming the Nets. After merging into the NBA for the 1976–77 season, the Nets moved to New Jersey and remained there for 35 seasons before relocating to Brooklyn in 2012.

The Nets closed their ABA era as the league's marquee franchise, reaching the finals in 1972 and then winning championships in 1974 and 1976. The legendary Julius Erving won the league's final three MVP awards. Powered by forward Buck Williams, the Nets made five straight NBA playoff appearances from 1981–82 through the 1985–86 seasons.

In 1991–92, the Nets, propelled by top scorer Dražen Petrović and young catalysts Derrick Coleman and Kenny Anderson, returned to the playoffs, with both Coleman and Petrović earning All-NBA honors in 1993. The arrival of point guard Jason Kidd in 2001 sparked the team's greatest NBA era. Joined by Richard Jefferson, Kenyon Martin and Kerry Kittles, Kidd led the Nets to a franchise-record 52 wins in 2001–02 and back-to-back NBA Finals appearances in 2002 and 2003. With high-flying Vince Carter arriving during the 2004–05 season, the Nets made six straight playoff appearances.

The 2020–21 season was a stellar one for the Nets, as they advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, losing in the seventh game to eventual NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks. Kevin Durant set an NBA playoff Game 7 record when he scored 48 points, but the Nets ultimately came up short.

A great moment with my family. It was perfect as usual with Ticketmaster. Just a problem, it’s difficult to book tickets when you live in France. We cannot load the app.

  • To much music

by Steve on 11/5/24Barclays Center - BrooklynRating: 3 out of 5

There is too much music during the game. I’d rather hear sounds of the playground (players voices, ball on the ground and in the basket, referee’s whistle than music or big dumb sounds . And the place between the ranks is too narrow for the legs

  • Worst experience ever in a Stadium

by Lucas on 11/4/24Barclays Center - BrooklynRating: 1 out of 5

I am very disappointed with the experience I had yesterday at the Barclays Center stadium in the match between the Broklyn Nets Vs Chicago Bulls. I came to the United States with my pregnant wife to see this game because we are big Nets fans. Firstly, we paid a high price to stay in the seats below, and so there were still some empty chairs and as there was no supervision, several people pretended it was their seats and ended up sitting in those chairs. In our case, there were two extremely unpleasant people who had not bought into being in that place. What happens is that as there is no supervision, people look at these empty seats, come and sit on them. I would like to know what is the point of paying a lot to sit in seats close to the courts if there is no one checking? I felt very uncomfortable about it. Furthermore, we had problems when buying beer, where we were treated badly by an employee who was pushing the beer cart. I personally find this absurd considering that a beer is 16 dollars. It really was the worst experience I've ever had inside a stadium in the USA. Expectations were very high for the type of experiences we had. We probably won't go back to this stadium or recommend anyone we know to go there. Because the treatment of fans is ridiculous.

  • Great inside, terrible to get into

by Anthony on 11/4/24Barclays Center - BrooklynRating: 2 out of 5

The experience inside is awesome, great to watch the game even from up the top. Food was good and reasonably priced. Getting into the stadium was appalling. We missed the whole first qtr despite being there 30 minutes before tip off. I've watched sport around the world and that was the worst experience of security and ticketing I've seen. Needs a review from top to bottom - systems, training, customer service and equipment.

  • Simply Great!

by Al on 11/4/24Barclays Center - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

The match went really well, and the location was fantastic. We were seated in K7, and the view of the field was excellent. We highly recommend the KEY, especially with the little buffet and the private area—it made the experience even better!

  • Awesomeness game

by NRVroom on 11/3/24Barclays Center - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

The game was awesome, and even from far seats, everything was clean to see and huge screen was not needed to see the action. It was hard to understand the use of ticket master now that ticket are dynamic (you can’t receive ticket by mail and can’t screenshot them). The waiting line outside of the arena was also not that well organised

  • Amazing

by Michelle on 11/2/24Barclays Center - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

Other than the queuing to get in the building everything about the night was fantastic, the game, the entertainment, the food. We absolutely loved it, if we’re ever back in New York will definitely go again!

  • Great atmosphere!

    by Jean-François on 11/2/24Barclays Center - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing game, great atmosphere, professional organisation. 1st time attending a NBA game and the Nets had a great result. Loved it as well as the whole family. To be recommended to all people willing to discover what a show and a great NBA game is.

  • Great evening

by Charly on 11/1/24Barclays Center - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

Great Venue! Lots of food and drink facilities. Jokic live was a dream come true! So sad the Nets could not hold the 15 points lead!

  • Great experience

by Steve on 11/1/24Barclays Center - BrooklynRating: 4 out of 5

Visited the Barclay Centre for the first time. The experience was great although a little pricey for drink and food, but you do expect that I suppose. Would definitely go again!
