Seattle Seahawks History

The Seattle Seahawks joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team. The Seahawks have won 11 division titles and three conference championships. They are the only team to have played in both the AFC and NFC championship games. They have appeared in three Super Bowl championships, (2006, 2014 and 2015). The Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos, 43-8, at Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014 to win their first title.

Seattle Seahawks fans, also known as “The 12s,” are regarded as one of the loudest fanbases in the NFL. The 12s are not only loyal, but in 2013 they proved to be the loudest, setting a Guinness World Record for crowd noise in October and later exceeding it in December. 

Opened as the Seahawks Stadium in 2002 (and renamed Qwest Field in 2004, then CenturyLink Field in 2011), the 68,740-capacity stadium was most recently renamed in November 2020 to coincide with CenturyLink's rebrand to Lumen Technologies.

    I’ve been to a few NFL games and this one had so much fluff. After every play there was some sort of dancing or talking that could be left out. The Seagals danced too much, which was part of the fluff. Besides that, the most annoying part is every 3rd down the fans had to stand up. We have seating for a reason and I understand an exciting play but not every 3rd down. The cost of food could be lower. On the plus side, getting in and leaving was a breeze.

    It's always a great experience to be in the Lumen field. The atmosphere before and during the game is just unbelievably great. The 2-beer rule is incomprehensible to me. There are certainly visitors for whom this rule makes sense, but I don't think it's ok to impose it on everyone.

    Whole stadium was electrifying and filled with so many fun activities, music, and food/drinks! Just visiting in town, but can’t wait to come back again for a game next time I’m here.

    Seahawks Football and Lumen Field are a lot of fun. The fans are amazing. The atmosphere is electric and Lumen Field is a perfect venue to see NFL Football. I went to see the Buffalo Bills vs Seattle Seahawks game in October 2024. Fans of the Bills and Seahawks enjoyed the game together without fighting or misbehavior. There is something about Lumen Field that is wonderful whether you can stay in a hotel close by and walk to the field or whether it is an easy stadium to get in and out of are some reasons why this is a cool place to watch a game. I am not from Washington State but I I do feel the Lumen Field is one of my absolute favorite sports venues because there is an excited sports feeling to the stadium but there is also an overall friendliness that pervades the place. Finally, security is top notch but not over the top making it secure yet fun to watch Seattle Seahawks play football. Bottom line: A great place to watch a game.

    Seahawks fans are the worst. I love going and rooting for my Niners or any other team playing against Seattle.

    The fans were loud and unruly on both sides, it’s too steep with narrow isles. The view is constantly blocked with folk coming and going, it’s windy, poorly lit, and costs a fortune. Wont go again. Oh and parking for the park and ride was full 3.5 hrs before the game. The lt rail was jammed and there is no seats to rest on while waiting.

    We had a wonderful time!! I try to see at least one game a year!! Wish I could see more but can't afford that!! Wonderful people!!
