D.C. United History

D.C. United dominated the early days of MLS. They appeared in the league’s first four championship games, winning three of them, and added a fourth title in 2004, all before the league was even a decade old. They were dominant under the leadership of their first coach, Bruce Arena, from 1996 until 1998. He won 56 percent of his games in D.C., by far the best mark of any coach in team history.

Between 1997 and 2007, the United earned four Supporters’ Shields for best regular season record and claimed three U.S. Open Cup trophies in 1996, 2008 and 2013. The team’s alumni include a league-best four MVP recipients: Marco Etcheverry in 1998, Christian Gomez in 2006, Luciano Emilio in 2007 and Dwayne De Rosario in 2011. D.C. entered a new era with the arrival of English star Wayne Rooney in 2018. United's 2018 debut season in Audi Field was a success thanks in large part to Rooney.

  • GREAT!

by La banda on 10/20/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Audi Field is a great improvement from R.F.K. Section 136 is the section I would recommend you to go to if you are very energized and like noise although there is standing room only in that section but a great experience and if you want to go somewhere to tailgate go to water street near the power plant. Overall great experience!

Audi field was a great improvement from R.F.K. Section 136 is the section I would recommend you to go to if you are very energized and like noise although if you like sitting down during games then I would not recommend it because there are no seats in that section. Overall five stars great game and stadium.

  • Awful

by Les on 10/1/24Audi Field - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

I bought two tickets for me and my daughter, and we were super excited to go. We got to D.C. around 6:15pm, only to find that police had blocked all the main roadways leading to Audi Stadium due to a Nationals game. By the time we found a backroad to the stadium, the game was at halftime. We drove around for 30 minutes looking for parking until finally calling it quits and driving back to Baltimore. My kid was devastated. It would be really nice if Audi Stadium could coordinate with police so that fans can get to the matches they pay for. These tickets were not cheap.

  • Soccer night in DC!

by AchillesDog on 8/27/24Audi Field - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Great new stadium and a big lift from dilapidated RFK! Sat right by the corner flag. Seating is steep though and a little tight. $20.49 for ONE footlong half smoke is unconscionable no matter how good they taste (and it admittedly was good). Entertaining game and a fun night overall.

  • Great soccer venue

by Kenny on 7/26/24Audi Field - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the place when I went there for Celtic's friendly against DC United. Right on top of the action no matter where your seat or section is

  • Bad pitch conditions and not the view as advertised.

by MJ on 7/24/24Audi Field - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

The pitch was is bad shape, it is bad when you can see the MLS has no minimum standards of care. As someone who loves the game, I was embarrassed that my favorite Scottish team had to play on that pitch. The view from our seats were not as advertised from Ticketmaster and we would not have gotten them had we known. All that being said the staff at Audi Field were very nice and professional.

  • Fun First Visit!

    by RM2Static on 7/23/24Audi Field - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

This was the first time attending a match at Audi Field. I bought the ticket primarily to see Scottish club Celtic FC in action for the first time. I've been a fan since I was a kid and jumped at the opportunity. I got to the venue by parking at College Park Metro Station and riding the Green Line to the Washington National's ballpark exit. The stadium itself is nice and looks like it has great sight lines throughout. I loved my seat at midfield. My only negative observation was the condition of the pitch. There were a lot of divots and it did not look safe to play on.

  • Amazing to see Celtic!

Great evening in DC to watch a top European team…bring on more.
