Mark Bowles named marketing director at PlayStation UK

Sony announced the appointment of a new marketing director at PlayStation UK this morning, as Mark Bowles re-joined the firm.

Bowles joins from Dixons Carphone when he’s been head of marketing for over two years. Before that, he spent nearly two years at the BBC at the same role, joining from Sony.

He started at Sony Europe in 2006 as European brand manager for Gran Turismo and then became senior brand manager for the PS3. He then moved to the UK team in March 2011 as UK marketing manager and was promoted to head of product marketing in October 2012, where he was instrumental in the launch of the PS4.

As marketing director, Bowles will oversee PlayStation’s hardware, software and services alongside head of communications Jo Bartlett, with group marketing managers Lauren Bradley and Tom Whitaker reporting directly into him. He replaces Rich Keen (who joined Sony in 2013 to replace Bowles), who left the firm in October last year.

Bowles will report into VP and MD for PlayStation UK and Ireland Warwick Light, who commented: “Mark re-joins the UK team having broadened his experience significantly during his tenure with two of our key partners; The BBC (content partner) and Dixons Carphone (retail partner). He knows our business well and will be able to hit the ground running, whilst bringing valuable insight and learnings gained from his spell away from PlayStation.”

Bowles said: "I am thrilled to be returning to PlayStation UK and to have the opportunity to re-join this this iconic brand as it builds on the momentum of the last few years. I’m looking forward to working with Warwick and the rest of the team to deliver truly impactful campaigns that really are ‘For the Players’."
