ELEAGUE have announced a $250,000 Injustice 2 World Championship this October, which will air on cable network TBS in the US in addition to being livestreamed on Twitch.
The tournament, announced during an E3 stream on Sunday, will comprise an open qualifier, which will take place on October 21 and players from all four of the game’s official tours taking place. The Injustice 2 Pro Series, The Gamestop Hometown Heroes series, Road to Pro and Liga Latina will all be represented, but in the announcement it wasn’t revealed in which quantity players will be invited from those competitions.
This is only the second time ELEAGUE have taken a leap into fighting games, but it had a big success with the Street Fighter V Invitational, which drew in over 330,000 viewers on TBS. That tournament was won by Victor ‘Punk’ Woodley, and concluded last month. It seems now ELEAGUE are ready to get back to work, and they’ll be releasing more details in the coming weeks.
Unlike the Street Fighter V Invitational, which ran separate to Capcom’s Pro Tour for the game, the Injustice 2 World Championship is an official part of the game’s calendar, and so should have participation from each of the top players.
