Focus Home Interactive posts Q1 2018/2019 financials, with a 23 per cent increase year on year

Focus Home Interactive has published its first quarter financials for 2018/2019, and it paints a healthy picture for the publisher.

The French company is showing a Q1 2018 revenue increase of 23 per cent, year on year, bringing in €28.5m (£25.3m) over the period. Their success is largely driven by the launch of Vampyr, which launched straight to number 1 in the UK physical charts.

It’s a double success for Focus, as 2018’s Vampyr launch was a significant improvement on 2017’s launch of The Surge, which itself was a 24 per cent year on year increase on Focus’ 2016 results.

Focus’ increasingly strong back catalogue is also lending a hand to their financial results, with 29 per cent of the company’s sales coming from previous releases.

It’s a strong first quarter for the company and Q2 will see the release of Fear the Wolves on Early Access with a full release in 2019, in addition to the PC release of Insurgency: Sandstorm, which will get a console release in 2019.

Fear the Wolves is a battle royale title from Vostok Games, a team partly comprised of the creators of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The title is looking to mix battle royale play with environmental issues, dynamic weather and Player vs Environment elements, and is set in a post-apocalyptic Chernobyl.

Insurgency: Sandstorm meanwhile is a sequel to the original Insurgency title, which currently boasts an active community of 5 million PC Gamers. The new title is hoping to capture fans old and new and if successful could be a strong release for the publisher if it finds success.
