George RR Martin assistant is consulting on Telltale’s Game of Thrones

The upcoming Game of Thrones title from Telltale Games is getting some high-level help from the creators of both the books and TV show.

Sci-fi author Ty Corey, described as personal consultant to Thrones author George RR Martin and the TV show’s executive producer, has been assigned as the game’s story consultant by show creators HBO, The New York Times reports.

The site also reveals the extent to which Telltale had to convince a sceptical HBO of the viability of its Thrones project, particularly after the failure of not just the previous Thrones game but also HBO’s 2006 The Sopranos game.

We were struck by the sophisticated level of work and high-quality approach to storytelling in all of their games,” HBO global licensing VP Josh Goodstadt said. We quickly recognized that this same level of quality and dedication could be a great complement to the richness of Game of Thrones.”

The game is still without a release date and, by all accounts, sounds some way off.
