Members of the Screen Actors Guild have voted to officially end the long-running voice actors strike, which has been affecting game development for over a year.
The strike was due to come to an end after a successful negotiation of terms back in September, which allows voice actors to have much better and representative pay for further work that is needed on a project, as well as greater transparency in the projects being worked on. The vote to end the strike, which started officially on October 21st 2016, ends the longest industrial action in the union’s history.
"This agreement is the first step towards streamlining the work our members do in the video game industry," said SAG-AFTRA president, Gabrielle Cartiers in a statement. "The deal includes significant improvements in the area of transparency and the payment structure ensures that our members are compensated fairly for their work. I am excited for what this means for our members moving forward."
Companies affected by the strike included Electronic Arts, Warner Bros and Activision. Ashly Burch, who voiced Chloe in Life is Strange, was unable to come back and voice the character for the prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm, due to participating in the strike.
