E3 is about to open its door to the general public this year for the first time ever, offering out 15,000 tickets for sale on February 13th.
An initial batch of 1000 tickets will be sold at an early-bird price of $149 each, while the other 14,000 will be sold for $249, that’s according to GameSpot, who broke the news. Sales will open on the official E3 website.
Last year, the ESA created E3 Live, a satellite event to run near the main show, but this year those with the cash will be invited into the main event, which until now has only been available to those that work in the games industry and the press that cover them.
The event is still taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, it’s just that it’ll have to fit 15,000 extra bodies inside it now.
"It’s a changing industry, and E3 has always evolved to meet industry needs and anticipate where we’re heading together – as an event, as an industry, and as fans," said the ESA’s senior VP of comms, Rich Taylor.
"The decision to open our doors to 15,000 fans was a strategic decision. [E3 Live showed visitors] wanted to play the games inside the convention center. In addition, exhibitors inside the convention center wanted to have access to the fans. So this year we’re bringing the two together."
E3 2017 will run from June 13 to June 15, and a list of who and what will exhibit there will be revealed in the next few months.
