After news broke yesterday that the Echo Fox CS:GO team had broken up, ELEAGUE has now announced that the team has been replaced in the Americas Minor Championship.
With both Shahzeb “ShahZam” Khan and Ronny “ryx” Bylicki officially leaving the Echo Fox organisation, and only Ryan “Freakazoid” Abadir confirming that he would be staying it was clear that the team would not be able to compete in the upcoming Americas Minor Championship, which gives successful teams a shot at the ELEAGUE Major.
Echo Fox has now been replaced by Muffin Lightning, who got the invitation based on their performance in the closed qualifier for the minor. At the qualifier they won one match and lost two, but a -7 round record made them the best of the teams that didn’t make it through, securing a spot at the minor.
Muffin Lightning will now play Cloud 9 in the first round of the double elimination bracket in the minor championship, which also features Immortals and Team SoloMid. The two grand finalists will book a slot at the ELEAGUE Major offline qualifier in mid December as well as grabbing a share of the $50,000 prize pool.
