CD Projekt Red: Cyberpunk 2077 dev team bigger than that for Witcher 3

CD Projekt Red is going all out for its upcoming sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077.

The Witcher developer has already revealed that it is “drastically” updating its development software in order to build the title based on the 1980s tabletop RPG Cyberpunk 2020, which was first revealed way back in early 2012.

Visual effects artist Jose Teixeira also told Develop sister title MCV last year that the game would be the studio’s biggest title to date, describing it as “far, far bigger than The Witcher III”.

Now, the company’s executive board has revealed the scale of the development team working on the ambitious project, which similarly outsizes The Witcher III’s headcount during its heaviest points of development.

“Cyberpunk is currently being worked on by more game devs than there were working on the third part of The Witcher during its most intensive month,” Szulc confirmed during an investor relations Q&A on the CDPR forums.

Unsurprisingly, other details remained largely absent – with CDPR saying it would prefer to stay quiet regarding the specifics of “the ‘kitchen’ of [its] production” where it is cooking up the much-anticipated title.
