Sumo Digital has revealed development veteran Karl Hilton as studio director for its new UK offices.
Hilton has held positions at several major developers including Crytek, where he recently served as MD, assisted with the creation of the CryEngine technology and oversaw Crysis 2 and 3.
He also spent five years at iconic British studio Rare and helped found Timepslitters creator Free Radical, which he also lead as director.
Additionally, he has contributed mentoring and advice for industry organisation Creative England.
Sumo’s Nottingham office marks its second location in the UK and third worldwide, as the Crackdown 3 developer expands its triple-A output.
“We are looking to create a ‘state of the art’ studio in Nottingham and will build a team of experienced and new talent dedicated to creating the highest quality gaming experiences,” explained Hilton.
“Working closely with the Sumo studios in Sheffield and Pune, the Nottingham studio will build on the technical and creative excellence that Sumo is well known for.”
Sumo COO Paul Porter added: “Karl’s industry knowledge and expertise will lead Sumo Nottingham in building a world class team to develop exciting games across console, VR, PC and mobile platforms.”
