Sony’s latest PlayStation 4 exclusive Ratchet & Clank shoots straight to the top of the UK charts, beating the series’ week one sales record three times over.
The previous title was held by 2009’s A Crack in Time. This new Ratchet & Clank game outsold that game by ‘a factor of three’.
This is also the highest a Ratchet & Clank game has charted in its first week. The first title in the series – 2002’s Ratchet & Clank – previously held this record, and charted at No.15.
The film that accompanies this release hits cinemas on April 29th, so expect reasonably strong sales in Ratchet & Clank’s second week.
That, coupled with the fact this title is being pushed towards kids, should mean the game hangs around in the charts for a while to come.
Meanwhile, last week’s No.1 Dark Souls III falls to second place as sales plummet 80 per cent week-on-week.
In third place is EA’s Star Wars Battlefront, which shot up nine places. Sales rose 177 per cent week-on-week on the week where The Force Awakens launched on DVD and Blu-ray.
Further down the charts, Nintendo’s Star Fox Zero debuts in sixth place.
