The next Ni No Kuni game has been delayed until early next year, publisher Bandai Namco has confirmed. Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom was originally set to launch on PS4 and PC on November 10th later this year, but has now been postponed until January 19th 2018. Developer Level-5 boss Akihiro Hino delivered the news via a short video earlier today, which you can view in full below.
"We have decided that more development time is required in order to deliver the full Ni no Kuni II experience to our fans. I deeply apologise to those who have been looking forward to the game’s release. Please rest assured, however, that we will continue to strive to provide a deep and satisfying single player experience that our fans can look forward to enjoying," said Akihiro Hino CEO and President of Level-5 Inc.
Hino also went on to explain more about the game’s gameplay, which had been the subject of some confusion over E3. Contrary to some reports, the game will not have any kind of multiplayer component. Hino said he misunderstood the interview question and thought it was referring to online content in general.
The first Ni No Kuni title, Wrath of the White Witch, had a very positive reception back in February 2013, debuting at No.1 in the UK weekly charts and pushing Call of Duty: Black Ops II off the top spot to No.3 – an impressive feat considering it was a PS3 exclusive. It’s also sold 1.9m units since its release.
Ni No Kuni II, which once again incorporates the animation of the renowned Studio Ghibli team, has now added PC to its list of formats, and should be popular among anime and RPG fans when it launches next year.
