Bandai Namco has said that its free-to-play fighting game SoulCalibur: Lost Swords will be shut down later this year.
Eurogamer reports that the servers for the PS3 title will be shut down on November 30th, just a year and a half after the game was first launched. Sales of Continue Tickets and AP Potions will be halted on September 30th, and all other in-game purchases from on October 27th.
The game has to date been downloaded some 2m times.
SoulCalibur: Lost Swords suffered some quite major disruption at launch, with a significant technical overhaul required before the game could get properly up and running.
The game was in May embroiled in a controversy when its producer said that the reason it was limited to single-player was that it was built around a "pay-to-win" model that would have had a detrimental affect online.
