Profit is back on the cards at Nintendo after the company reported an upturn in fortunes for the quarter ending June 2015.
Net sales climbed 20.8 per cent to 99,223m. Operating income reached 1,149m, reversing the 9,470m loss reported in the same period a year before. It’s the first time the company has had a profitable Q1 since 2012.
Wii U shooter Splatoon certainly helped the numbers with unit sales of 1.62m. That helped Wii U shift 470k units during the period which at long last helps it over the 10m units sales barrier. This also makes Wii U’s quarterly software sales – which hit 4.55m units – all the more impressive.
However, Wii u sales were down year-on-year, having reached 510k the year before.
3DS unit sales for the quarter stood at 1.01m with software reaching 7.92m units.
