The man behind one of gaming's most popular podcasts passes away at 34

Obituary: Ryan Davis, Giant Bomb co-founder

Ryan Davis, co-founder of games news site Giant Bomb, passed away last Wednesday, the 3rd of July.

Davis was well recognized as a veteran of GameSpot before leaving the CBS-owned site to start Giant Bomb with Jeff Gerstmann.

As the host for website’s podcast Davis became known for his laugh and weaponized sense of humor.

To his friends though, he was known for his kindness.

“He had an unconventional type of kindness that expressed itself more strongly the longer one knew him, and despite his teasing nature, he always managed to make his close friends feel loved when his attention turned towards you,” reads Giant Bomb’s obituary.

Davis was married just a few days prior to his death at the age of 34.

No cause of death has been given.

Since the news broke, the industry has flooded the social media with an outpouring of fond memories and sadness over his passing.

For a while, Ryan Davis was trending globally on Twitter, and his colleague Dave Snider has put together a web site to say “thank you” to his friend.

We at Develop offer our sincere condolences to our colleagues at Giant Bomb and Ryan’s friends and family.
