EA’s Andrew Wilson joins Intel board of directors

Electronic Arts director and CEO, Andrew Wilson, has been elected to the board of directors for chip manufacturer Intel.

Releasing the news on their website, Intel also noted that its board membership increases to 12 people following Wilson’s election. Wilson has been at EA since 2000 and because CEO and a director of the company in 2013. In those four years, EA has grown massively with online engagement and increasing digital revenue. Wilson was once executive vice president of EA Sports and was an executive producer on the FIFA franchise as the FIFA Ultimate Team mode started to take off.

“Andrew understands first-hand how technology and data create opportunity with his transformation of EA from offline packaged goods to a leader in online digital services,” said Intel Chairman Andy Bryant in a press release. “In addition to his experience leading and growing a global, technology-driven company, Andrew possesses a combination of creativity and business acumen that will further strengthen Intel’s board.”

Wilson, an Australian native and educated in the US, succeeded John Riccitiello as EA CEO in 2013 after he left to join engine developer Unity. Wilson has earned several accolades including being listed number 5 on the BBC’s list of best CEOs in 2014 and number 3 on Forbes 2015 list of America’s most powerful CEOs aged 40 and under, behind Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Yahoo’s Marissa Meyer
