Dreamhack has announced a variety of competitive events that will run at the same time as its main DreamHack Summer 2017 tournament, with focus on different groups that might be less likely to compete in the main event.
The four tournaments are an all-female tournament, a junior tournament for those under 18, a free-for-all tournament and, interestingly, a ‘senior’ tournament.
All of the tournaments are BYOC (bring-your-own-computer) and could spotlight interesting talent for pro level CS:GO teams. The events will run alongside DreamHack between June 17-20 at Elmia Fair in Jönköping, Sweden, the same venue as DreamHack proper.
Perhaps true to the skew towards younger players in competitive gaming, the senior tournament is actually for CS:GO players over the age of 30. This could see the return of several Counter-Strike 1.6 legends coming out of retirement for one last skirmish, in addition to stars like Raphael ‘Cogu’ Camargo, widely considered to be the best Brazillian Counter-Strike player of all time.
The first place prize will snag 10,000 SEK, second will get 5,000SEK and from there it’s product prizes for everyone else.
