Big changes are coming to Rainbow Six Siege’s casual and ranked map rotation

Ubisoft are making another big change to the world of Rainbow Six Siege, with several maps being taken out of the rotation for both ranked and casual matches.

The ranked rotation will contain the same nine matches as are contained in the competitive season’s playlist, with season three’s map pool announced as: Bank, Clubhouse, Oregon, Kafe, Consulate, Chalet, Border, Coastline and Skyscraper

The casual map pool will be bigger, with only Yacht and Favela getting cut for a while. Ubisoft have suggested that some of the maps that’ve been pulled out of rotation for ranked play could be getting a rework from the Rainbow Six Siege team, although they haven’t mentioned which maps could be on the list for a spruce up.

The maps pulled out of rotation aren’t surprising. Favela, although I have a fondness for it, gets a lot of flak, and no one likes Yacht. Reworking these maps could bring them back to competitive play, although in the blog post discussing the subject, the idea of removing certain maps from play forever, later down the line.

Season three will kick off with the introduction of Operation Blood Orchid, and at the same time players will lose the ability to select map preferences in PvP matchmaking.
