Twitch Affiliates will be offered subscriptions too

Streaming video service Twitch’s subscription program will soon be available for Affiliate creators.

Affiliates will be able to take advantage of the usual $4.99, $9.99 and $24.99 subscription rates. Twitch Prime members will also be able to use their free 30-day channel subscription on Affiliates, too.

We designed the Twitch Affiliate program as a stepping stone to our Partnership program, which includes providing several means of monetization to those creators aspiring to reach the next tier in their career," SVP of commerce and developer success Ethan Evans said.

By enabling Affiliates to use Cheering, sell games, and now offer subscriptions, we are leading the industry in offering monetization options to creators."

The changes are expected to roll out next week.

Twitch has also announced a redesign for its mobile app, along with some new features – including the ability to live broadcast directly from a smartphone camera. The roll out begins today with completion expected early next month.

Other additions include the new Pulse recommendation and discovery feed, navigation via swipe and Instant Playlists.

Twitch has a vibrant community on mobile, with more than 83m installs of our app," senior director of product management Tom Robertson said. With this redesign we’re ensuring that our amazing creators – who are the reason this community exists – are more discoverable than ever, both to their existing fans and those who have yet to find them. It also makes navigating the app more fun and intuitive, with all the best stuff available with a single tap or simple swipe.

Not only will our creators reach a new audience through the app itself, the launch of Mobile Streaming gives them the opportunity to offer new content to their fans. We can’t wait to see what they create."
