SK Gaming has lifted the trophy on the CS:GO Dreamhack Summer tournament, beating out home team Fnatic in a tense 2-1 victory.
It’s a good start to a summer campaign that’s going to see SK competing at the ECS Season 3 finals next week and the Krakow Major a month from now. SK finishes the tournament looking strong, although the event was missing several of the sport’s top teams, with G2 Esports, Astralis, FaZe Clan and North notably absent.
Still, SK’s victory over Fnatic gives the team their third championship title of the year and leaves them $50,000 richer. If the Brazilian SK can clutch a win at the ECS final and the Krakow Major, they’ll be showing themselves as one of the teams to beat in the current competitive scene.
Elsewhere, Fnatic would be fair to feel hard done by with their loss, playing well and taking a second place finish in the group stages all the way to the final. Similarly, North American team CLG’s form is trending so far upwards it’s basically vertical. They crashed out against eventual winners SK, but won their group stage after a phenomenal 31:28 match on de_Train against Fnatic, a match with so many overtime rounds that the two teams nearly played an entire match worth of overtime.
