Game streaming newcomer D!ngIt.TV has announced a weekly rota of tournaments for five eSports titles, in a bid to establish themselves as serious competition for Twitch viewer share.
The microtournaments, held every day of the week from the end of February, will offer up to $8500 worth of payouts per month to winners of CS:GO, Dota 2, Hearthstone, StarCraft 2 and Heroes of the Storm championships.
Tournaments range from CS:GO tournaments (held twice a week, Monday and Saturday) with a monthly payout, to weekly Heroes of the Storm “King of the Hill” style tournaments, where winning nets you $25 but staying on top increases the prixe by $25 each week.
The competitions are open to any team, though the ability to find a team as a solo player has not yet been implemented. So far, semi-professional teams who have signed up include North American talents the likes of Tempo Storm, Vivid Gaming and ESV’s Wildfire and Tempest.
Organised out of their own budget, D!ngIt hopes to reduce the length of time between winning and receiving prize money for teams, to offer them a regular source of income and establish consistency in an often erratic field.
The platform itself hopes to contend with current market leader Twitch, with their own page metadata proclaiming themselves “A live streaming broadcaster better than Twitch.” The claims come from assurances that the provider’s technology allows viewers to watch streams with 20-50% less bandwidth than competitors. A 1080p 60fps broadcast then only requires 3000Kbps rather than Twitch’s recommended 3500-4000Kbps.
It also offers a 4-6 second stream delay, making interaction between chat and streamer much faster. The push for eSports and higher level gamers is also apparent in the native Click Pro integration, which allows viewers to see the button actions of the streamer in realtime via an overlay.
