In just a few hours Fnatic will face off against G2 eSports at ESL One Cologne, and one of Fnatic’s star players, Robin “flusha” Rönnquist, had some harsh words on his opponents.
Speaking to MCV at the ECS finals a couple of weeks ago Flusha was asked if G2 were one of the best teams in the world.
“I can’t say I consider them a top team because they mostly rely on two players, and if those two players don’t do well they are not going to win,” said flusha. “Right at this moment yes they probably are up there, but up until now I am pretty sure they have not been top four.”
Of course Fnatic have been in poor form over recent months, mainly due to an injury to Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer Gustafsson that saw him miss months of playing time with the team. However flusha was confident that if the injury hadn’t happened, they would still be classed as the best in the world.
“Yeah I definitely think we would have still been up there without the injury,” mentioned flusha. “I think we would have kept on dominating everyone. I don’t know how the last major would have gone without the injury so it’s hard to say about that event, but I think we would have kept being one of the top teams and kept on winning.”
Fnatic will be hoping that flusha can back up his thoughts by coming up big and beating G2 later tonight, which would knock the French team out of the competition. You can watch the action over on the ESL CS:GO Twitch stream.
