In an interview with MCV, owner of Team Dignitas, Michael “ODEE” O’Dell, denied reports that he has sold the organisation’s spot in the NA LCS Challenger Series.
“At the moment it [the Dignitas LoL team] is kind of up in the air,” said ODEE at the CEVO Gfinity Season 9 LAN Finals. “We have a Challenger slot at the minute, although apparently I have sold it according to some website, which was interesting to read, but no it’s our slot right now.”
Earlier in the week ESPN reported that Apex Gaming had purchased the Dignitas Challenger Series slot after the team was relegated from the LCS a few weeks ago. However ODEE said this was not the case, although he is not sure what exactly will be happening yet.
“We might be doing something special with it, but you have to weigh up how much you are spending on things,” said ODEE. “Right now I literally don’t know what we are doing with League and we only have like three or four weeks to decide. I have no idea who will be on the team.”
While ODEE denied that he had sold the slot at this minute he didn’t rule it out as a possibility, and hinted that they may have some interesting plans to get back into the LCS.
“I want to be back in LCS and if we go into Challenger and we don’t make it this split, it means I can’t have an LCS slot until next summer, so that would be even worse than where we are right now,” mentioned ODEE. “The LCS is getting very interesting at the moment, it’s just annoying that we aren’t in it. We will be back at some point.”
