The narrative goes that print is in decline, but Future’s Official PlayStation has bucked the trend with a 9.6 per cent increase in physical magazine circulation year-on-year.
These figures come as a part of Audit Bureau of Circulation’s final 2015 report, which indicates that Official PlayStation Magazine’s print circulation rose to 26,659.
Overall, the brand saw a 8.2 per cent increase in circulation when factoring in its digital edition. That format’s circulation decreased by 2.1 per cent year-on-year.
The same cannot be said for Future’s Official Xbox Magazine.
While print circulation fell year-on-year 8.9 per cent year-on-year, the brand’s digital edition saw a yearly increase of 9.5 per cent.
Meanwhile, over at PC Gamer, combined circulation fell 2.5 per cent year-on-year – print dipped 2.1 per cent, while digital dropped five per cent.
However, circulation figures are missing for Future’s other two gaming magazines – Edge and GamesMaster. Both are no longer listed on the ABC’s website as of the end of 2014, which is surely not a great sign about those brands’ performance.
