ESRB gives game Mature rating on PS2, PSP and Wii

Rockstar London’s Manhunt 2 cleared for release in US

Rockstar has finally received some good news over Manhunt 2: the game has been cleared for an October release in the US.

American ratings board the ESRB has granted the game an ‘M’ classification – which allows sale to consumers of 17 years and older – after Rockstar submitted a modified version of the title.

In June, Rockstar parent Take 2 was forced to suspend the release of the horror title when the ESRB issued an Adults Only rating.

"Manhunt 2 is important to us, and we’re glad it can finally be appreciated as a gaming experience," said founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games Sam Houser.

"We love the horror genre. Manhunt 2 is a powerful piece of interactive story telling that is a unique video game experience. We think horror fans will love it."

The ruling is sure to give Rockstar’s UK HQ hope of gaining classification from the British equivalent of the ESRB, the BBFC.

The publisher is set to enter into an appeal hearing with the body in the next two months.
