A now-deleted poste on Norweigan website gamer.no reported that BAFTA award-winning studio Double Fine’s latest game will be unveiled at the Leipzig Games Convention next week – and that it will be a collaboration with Hollywood actor Jack Black.
The game, allegedly called Brutal Legend, revolves around a dead rock’n’roll roadie attempting to find his way back to the world of the living, with the main character being played by School of Rock star Black.
Tim Schafer, founder of Double Fine, is scheduled to make a keynote speech at the Games Convention Developers Conference, and a Vivendi representative apparently confirmed that there would be something on show. It has since gone on to deny the claims, as has Schafer.
Develop understands that this game was intended to be debuted – hence Shafer’s signing for the keynote in the first place – but those plans were since put on hold. However, this leak may well force Vivendi and Double Fine’s hand and cause another reversal.
