Global Wii supply to increase?

Nintendo has reportedly approached two Taiwanese manufacturers with a view to outsourcing supply of Wii components, in a bid to increase the amount of hardware hitting the High Street.

Third-party companies SunPlus Technology and Wistron Corp are both expected to be announced as new partners of the platform holder, according to manufacturing trade site

emsnow.com

, which cites CENS as its source.

Wistron is set to become an assembler of the console, joining Foxconn Technology, whilst Sunplus will concentrate on controller chips, which it will share with PixArt Imaging Inc.

The website also reports that fellow Taiwan firm Lite-On has plans to become involved with proving the power supplies for the consoles. Delta Electronics is currently the sole supplier of the devices.
