505 Games’ recently announced partnership with Quantum Break and Alan Wake studio Remedy Entertainment will take the publisher "to the next level." That’s according to Raffi Galante (pictured far right), CEO of 505 Games’ parent company Digital Bros.
"The partnership with Remedy is a huge opportunity for us," he told MCV at Milan Games Week. "It’s a great achievement. As a publisher and as a group, we always work with many talented indie studios, but with Remedy, this is a big opportunity for us to go to the next level, the next step.
"It’s a studio that’s really impressed me a lot, and not just from an organisational point of view, but also the people, and that’s why I think we’re going to learn a lot from them. We’re very excited to work with them on this project."
Announced in May, the 20-year rights deal between 505 Games and Remedy Entertainment will see the publisher invest €7.75m into the Finnish studio in return for 45 per cent royalties on net sales from its next game, which is currently codenamed Project 7. The unannounced game is currently set for release on PS4, Xbox One and PC, and will take place in "a new Remedy-created universe" and offer "an intriguing story" with the "deepest game mechanics yet in a Remedy game," according to the press release at the time.
Indeed, Galante hopes the publisher will be able to work with more studios in this capacity in the future, too:
"Remedy is part of the triple-A studio world, and for us it’s an important jump. It’s an important upside for the company, too, and yes, we’d like to have this kind of partnership with other studios. To launch a new IP, especially today, is more and more difficult, and you need to have the right people, the expertise of the right company and unite many important ingredients to have a success. So yes, we’d like to see how far we can go with this. This level of high-quality studios and projects will be very important for us."
