Space exploration game takes Grand Prize and Excellence in Design at San Francisco ceremony

Outer Wilds wins $33,000 at IGF Awards

Team Outer Wilds took home cash prizes amounting to $33,000 from last night’s Independent Games Festival awards.

The indie’s space exploration game was awarded the Seamus McNally Grand Prize for Best Independent Game, which comes with a cash prize of $30,000. An additional $3,000 came with the Excellence in Design award.

Elsewhere, Nathalie Lawhead picked up $5,000 for her Nuovo Award-winning Tetrageddon Games.

Other notable winners included Inkle Studios for mobile hit 80 Days, which won Excellence in Narrative, while the Audience Award went to the acclaimed This War of Mine by 11bit Studios. 

The IGF Awards were held alongside the GDC Awards in San Francisco. All finalists and winners can be found at the IGF Pavillion in the GDC Expo.
