GOG to delist all Telltale games from storefront next week

GOG is removing all remaining Telltale games from sale next week.

“Sadly, we need to inform you that, due to company’s closure, all the remaining Telltale titles will be delisted from our catalogue on Monday 27th, 10am UTC,” the company said in a statement (thanks, Eurogamer). “The titles are as follows: the Wolf Among Us, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Hector: Badge of Carnage, the Batman series, Sam & Max series, Puzzle Agent series, Tales from the Borderlands, and Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People.

“For everyone who purchased any of said titles prior to delisting, the games will remain in their GOG library.”

A number of Telltale games have already been removed from Steam, and Telltale fans noticed yesterday that Tales from the Borderlands, too, had been quietly removed. However, there’s seemingly no change in the availability of any of Telltale’s The Walking Dead seasons on Epic Games Store.

2K Games later confirmed via a statement that it is “working to get Tales from the Borderlands back up on digital storefronts as soon as possible. All prior digital purchases of the game will of course still be honoured and supported.”

Telltale Games laid off the majority of its staff in a ‘majority studio closure’ back in September. 25 employees remained at the company, though most projects have reportedly – understandably – been cancelled, and subsequent reports suggest even the skeleton crew have now been let go. The layoffs were confirmed via a tweet on the official Telltale Games account, blaming a year ‘marked by insurmountable challenges’ for the decision.

A former Telltale Games employee subsequently launched a class action lawsuit against the company, claiming it violated California’s WARN Act in not giving those fired at least 60 days notice before termination. Telltale was alleged to have failed to adhere to a number of its financial commitments to employees, including salaries, bonuses, commissions, holiday pay and more for the 60 days following terminations.
