Metro Redux is real and in the works for the latest generation of consoles, publisher Deep Silver has confirmed.
Rumour of the franchise’s jump to next-gen broke yesterday, when a pair of images mentioning the Metro Redux SKU for PS4, Xbox One and PC hit the web.
Deep Silver has taken the refreshing stance of actually commenting on the leak, stating that the title is in fact in development.
"Is Metro Redux real? Yes. We never made any secret of 4A’s desire to bring Metro to the latest generation of console hardware," the publisher said in a statement on Metro’s site.
Deep Silver further noted that the leaked images came from an "old, internal planning presentation" and contain "some nuggets of truth but a lot of hypothetical ideas and placeholder material." The company isn’t ready to officially reveal the game, but said it plans to make an announcement ahead of E3 2014 this June.
"We think the reality is a lot more exciting than the outdated material that got leaked shows, and we’re itching to share it with you. Just not yet.”
