Countless developers have taken to Twitter to celebrate the news that the European Commission has finally approved tax breaks for British games developers.
The news has been a long time coming, but that hasn’t been enough to quell the enthusiasm amongst devs as they ponder how they and their peers will benefit from the new financial incentive.
Even Culture Minister Ed Vaizey got in on the action:
Thrilled Commission has approved games tax relief. We have an absolutely fantastic games industry in the UK and this will be a real boost

After many years of asking nicely, the games industry in the UK finally has parity with other screen creative industries with tax breaks.

If we end up qualifying for them, I look forward to spending the tax break on hiring more people next year. @edvaizey @uk_ie
