South West-based indie developer Fayju has taken home UKIE’s Game of the Show award at Gamescom for its Oculus Rift title Cascade.
The winner – selected from a longlist of games from the British businesses attending Gamescom – was chosen as a prime example of the remarkable developing talent within the UK, the prize organisers said.
The VR title utilises the Oculus Rift, and is set inside a brain under the siege of Alzheimer’s disease, and tasks users with moving between brain cells and stabilising them.
Develop helped select the winner, along with UK studio Fat Pebble, and UKIE itself.
“It wasn’t an easy decision by any means,” said Jo Twist, CEO of UKIE, “but the judges felt that Fayju had created a fantastic title that really exemplified the up and coming talent that we have in the UK to the industry overseas.”
Michael Movel of Fat Pebble added: "As a developer it’s wonderful to see so many studios creating so many innovative games.”
Supported by UK Trade & Investment, the UKIE UK Game of the Show prize will support Fayju in the coming year. Fayju and their game, Cascade, will be press released by Ukie and profiled in Develop magazine, as well as receiving six months’ free membership with UKIE.
