Emergent has today released the latest version of its Gamebryo engine, version 2.3 – and the company says that the updated platform allows faster development with fewer resources.
New features and capabilities include Rendering Framework, an object-based rendering framework that allows for easy programmatic construction of complex rendering effects; new functions for multi-core processing; DX10 Support; Shadow System, a system which includes automatic tool chain support for variance shadow mapping, edge tap smoothed PCF shadow mapping, and general shadow mapping; and the integration of Ageia’s PhysX.

Gamebryo part of Emergent’s Elements modular tools family is is currently being used to make a number of Disney Interactive Studios titles and EA-Mythic’s upcoming Warhammer Online.
