Art tool compant Autodesk will be using GDC for the first public showing for new versions of Max and Maya.

Maya 8.5 and 3ds Max 9 Extension 1: Productivity Booster are the the new tools. The former claims to give artists enhanced creative control via Maya Nucleus – a new unified simulation framework and Python scripting integration.

Max 9 Extension 1: Productivity Booster meanwhile helps artists increase efficiency, offering more than 30 productivity enhancements.

Autodesk is also demonstrating is character animation software MotionBuilder at its booth on the GDC expo floor.

Meanwhile, as well as sponsoring Microsoft’s new XNA competition, Autodesk is invovled in a number of educational events at GDC. The company has picked out the following sessions as highlights throughout the week:
