Amazon has announced a new hire, Louis Castle, a co-founder of RTS outfit Westwood Studios. He’ll be taking the new role of head of Amazon Game Studios, Seattle.
Castle should be familiar to any fan of the real-time-strategy genre: he was one of the instrumental people behind the creation of the Command and Conquer franchise, and pioneered the entire genre. Since then, he’s been credited in over 100 different titles through Westwood, EA, Zynga and Kixeye. Some of these games include Boom Blox, Blade Runner and even Dune 2.
Castle is going to be working on Crucible, Amazon Games Studio’s competitive action game that’s being built with the aim of making it as stream-friendly as possible.
In a statement, Castle says: “I’m thrilled to join the talented game makers at Amazon Game Studios. Their dedication to community, customer experiences and quality is exhilarating! I’m excited to start using Twitch, Lumberyard, and AWS to build awesome new experiences for players, casters, and viewers alike.”
